Permalink Check This Out

I like sitting in this thing — just for a few minutes. Someday I will eat real food here and make a total mess.

Permalink South Mesa Trail

Another successful outing with Kayla today. She never made a peep the whole time. Probably because she was well insulated in this full body fleece suit. Might pick one up for myself!

Permalink Mount Sanitas

Kayla climbed her first mountain today under Daddy-power. No great pictures of her at the top for Mommy reasons. We will return.

Permalink Pumpkin Time

First holiday for Kayla? Think so! Halloween will be her first. So we went over to the pumpkin patch to celebrate.

She even got to ride her stroller through the giant corn maze!

Permalink Mimi

Kayla made her 2nd visit to Indiana in October to attend the funeral of Grandpa Hakes, whom she had just met a week prior. He will be missed.

On the bright side, she had an opportunity to meet Mimi, her Great Grandmother. Mimi just celebrated her 90th birthday this month. It was very exciting for her to see this new grandchild. She has a way with babies!

Permalink Two Month Check-up

Kayla had her first visit back to the doctor today since being born. I guess the doctor figures we’ve got things under control now with the third child so she didn’t have to come in as many times as the first two kids. The vaccinations started today so poor Kayla didn’t enjoy the visit so much. So I took a few pics before the shots were given.

She weighed in at 10 lbs. 12 oz. which puts her in the 50th percentile. Her length was 23” which is in the 75th percentile. And her noggin was 38 cm which puts her in the 25th percentile. So she’s basically one long skinny chick with a small head. Very desirable dimensions!

Permalink Kayla Meets Papa

Since Papa Hakes is unable to make the trip out to Colorado we made the last minute decision to come to Fort Wayne for the big introductions. With Kayla approaching two months old I figured she was old enough for the flight to Fort Wayne. I made the call to tell Papa we were on our way and he was SO excited to finally meet his newest granddaughter. After all if you can say one thing about Papa its that he absolutely adores his grandkids.

While I would do things around the house Papa would hold Kayla for me. We all thought this was funny since Kayla cries nonstop when her daddy holds her. But, not a peep for Papa. He’s got the magic touch!

Oh yeah, Kayla also got to meet her Grandma Hakes for the first time. Grandma was going insane at not being able to hold Kayla yet. All in all an excellent visit with Grandma and Papa Hakes.

Now that we are home Papa’s health has taken another turn for the worse. It seems as though he was holding on so that he could meet his little Kayla. So we are all even more thankful for the visit and our time with Papa.

We miss you and love you lots Papa!

Permalink In My Own Room

Kayla slept most of the night in her own room — in her crib! She hadn’t been sleeping well in our room in the bassinet any longer. Getting too big for it. So we gave it a shot in her room and it took. Still not out of the woods yet because she needs to eat before the sun rises. But we have a vision of getting a full night sleep someday in the future once again.
