Permalink Big Kid Playground

We had an unusually warm day today so the kids decided it was a great day to hit the playground. But, don’t tell anyone. Its the middle of winter and its “supposed” to be cold in Colorado.

Mommy and Kayla started off by climbing over the big bridge to the huge play set over and over and…..

Soon enough the allure of the big curvy slide was just too much for Kayla. She had to give it a try. Now Mommy was adamant that Kayla is still too little to take on this giant by herself. Luckily, we brought along a big sister who was ready and willing to take on this task.

Once again this kid has proven that she’s not afraid of anything.

Permalink Snowy Shoes

I talked everyone in to a snowshoe outing at Turquoise Lake. Didn’t have much expectation given the variety of ages. If we all actually get geared up and walk a 1/2 mile, its a win. Ready?

Heading out. Wyatt taking a break already!

Had the road all to ourselves on the way to Matchless. Not much tracked so far in the new snow.

Kayla refused the blanket on top of her so I had to carry it. She was giggling from time to time but finally started getting cold and I knew the countdown was on to get back to the warm car.

We got back home and the kids were hungry. So I grabbed this sucker off the house and told them to lick away. Kayla wasn’t sure why this sucker was bigger than she was.

Permalink Leadville Ice Skating

On Sunday, the kids decided they wanted to go ice skating. This time Kayla and Kim joined us. Previously, they were in the middle of nap time and didn’t join our snowy adventure on the sledding hill. Leadville has a nice ice skating park at the west end of 5th street. Its a couple bucks and you can rent skates. Everybody got out and was on the ice and having fun. Kayla and I sat on the sidelines for a bit but then she got bored and we decided to join the others. We figured out how to involve her in the skating too!

Kayla was sort of in a trace and just was quiet and rode all over the ice.

Permalink The Cabin Rocks

This past weekend, we made our first 2011 visit back to Leadville. The title of this post reflects what I saw written at the top of Sydney’s notebook/journal for her weekend in Leadville. Glad everyone is enjoying it so far. Its been a lot of work but Kim and I are trying to cram as much in each weekend as we can so that its ready to roll and feel like home ASAP. Pretty much there now but still could spend many weekends working on random things. But I have tried not to lose sight of why we go there….to relax and have some fun! So how about a bit on that.

I got my run in that morning but it didn’t stop me from a bit more exercise pulling some heavy cargo up and down the driveway.

Leadville

We made a pit stop out at the fort to see if Kayla would be interested in it. Apparently, not. It was too scary or she was too cold. Maybe next time.

Leadville

When I stopped, I guess Kayla found a new puller!

Let’s go break some trail!

Hey, Snow Sisters!

Do these snow pants make my legs look too fat?

Back again soon!
