A couple of the neighbor girls are on the cheer team at the nearby high school. So when they dropped by to tell our kids they could join in a mini-cheer camp the girls were all in. I don’t know if they will be the athletes or the cheerleaders later in life but its clear that they want to be in front of people showing their stuff. Kim attended the first practice and came back with stories of craziness. So I went to the second practice to experience it for myself. On the third day, they had the big halftime show at the Senior Night basketball game. A full crowd was on hand at the high school for the event.
Kayla was cracking us up throughout the week for the practices. She would get all dressed up to go. Then while there she was fawned over by the girls on the team. I swear she had to go the bathroom ten times per practice and the girls would fight over who got to take her. Then in the middle of each practice of the routine (which lasts like 4 minutes), she would be so parched. She had to go get her water bottle and get a drink. To which the coach would say, “Kayla, are you ready?”. “Just a minute…I am getting a drink”, she would say. We are on her clock here, people. Apparently at the first practice, Kayla kept going over and getting her chapstick in between songs and fixing her lips. To which one of the girls on the team asked her loudly if “her lips were moisturized enough yet?”.
Watch Kayla right as they come out on to the floor in position. There are people walking in front of her but you can see her put her fist in the air.
Kayla is wondering when the next class is now even though it over. It must be fun being the star of the show.
I was processing photos and Kayla came in and asked “why didn’t you take more pictures of me?”. Well, then I showed her how she never looked forward the whole time. And so I ended up using a picture of her picking her nose while cheering as the main shot above. I hope she makes this team someday. That ought to embarrass her nicely.
